Nurturing and welcoming

Cowes Primary School and Early Learning Centre is a vibrant educational setting where learning and relationships are central to school life.

Dedicated to shaping the future of its students, Cowes Primary School consistently cultivates strong learning foundations, which pave the way for lifelong growth.

Cowes Primary School takes pride in its dedication to delivering exceptional educational experiences.

With engaging and well-equipped learning spaces, we ensure students are provided with the tools they need to thrive academically.

Academic excellence

Cowes Primary School s recent achievements have further highlighted its commitment to academic excellence.

In recent NAPLAN testing, an outstanding 90 per cent of our year five students achieved strong or exceeding outcomes.

This is a testament to our school s teaching methodologies and focus on personalised learning.

Teachers work collaboratively to implement best practice and tailor classroom learning experiences to the needs of their students, which maximise the achievement of all.

Strong literacy foundations

One of the key features of our school is our commitment to ensuring our approaches to teaching literacy are supported by the latest research.

This is helping all our students make significant gains in their reading and writing skills.

We have a strong systematic synthetic phonics approach to literacy, coupled with decodable readers to support students in developing their  code knowledge , which is essential for developing skilled readers.

Our fulltime speech pathologist, Lesley O Donohue, plays a pivotal role in laying strong literacy foundations for all students.

Lesley has been leading professional learning for staff and is simultaneously working to support students with speech or language deficits.

Facilities

Covering an expansive 14 acres, our campus provides a nurturing and welcoming environment.

The luxury of space has allowed the school to provide students access to a competition sized gymnasium, 25m pool, tennis courts, vegetable garden, Early Learning Centre, large grass oval, a 3-acre native bush sanctuary, as well as four purpose built playgrounds, which includes a specialised sensory play space.

Continued dedication of staff

With its strong academic achievements, innovative facilities and devoted staff, the school continues to pave the way for a bright and promising future for its students.

School tours are always welcome.
