Island Seniors march forward
2 min read

Phillip Island has shown why it has been a strong club for so long with the 16s,18s and Seniors plus the U15s netball team straight into this year's Grand Final.

Not to be outdone, the 11s, 17s and B grade netball teams all took home wins on the weekend along with our Reserves footballers on Sunday afternoon. All these teams will fight it out this weekend at Dalyston to book their spot in the Grand Final.

That is eight teams still in finals which is a tremendous effort that the Phillip Island community can be proud of.

Seniors

In one of the windiest days on record Phillip Island outlasted Cora Lynn to come home with a two-goal victory.

In a match that was dominated by stoppages and wind pushing the ball to the far side of the ground, Phillip Island handled the conditions better and were able to show true grit and determination to lock the last quarter down after taking a three-goal lead into the last quarter.

The on-ball brigade of Jaymie Youle, Hayden and Charlie Bruce alongside big Daniel Bourke showed class and a hard edge to prevent the opposition their usual free flowing ball movement.

Down back Jesse Patullo had the big task of keeping Gardner (100 goals for the year) to having no influence on the game, keeping him goalless.

Alex Duyker was back to his intercepting best and the like of Griffin, Harris and Holmes controlled the backline to repel their attacks.

Zac Walker has continued his stellar year and was pivotal late in the game taking pack mark after pack mark in defense.

The forward line held their heads high while being outnumbered all day.

Pedersen, The Taylors, Tom Baulch, Orlando Kane-Gillard and Travis Woodfield all worked hard all day to lock the ball in our forward half.

As the excitement builds with four teams taking their spot on Grand Final day already the Island moves towards making it eight teams this week.

Come down and support your Bulldogs this Saturday at Dalyston for a big day of netball and football.
