Island U18s victorious in stellar Grand Final performance
1 min read

The Phillip Island Football Netball Club U18 Bulldogs showed true grit and determination in their hard-fought victory against the Warragul Industrials.

From the very first bounce, they knew they were up against the physically dominant Industrials, but it was their teamwork and resilience that saw them prevail in challenging weather conditions.

In the first quarter, Oliver Duggan's precise marking helped the Bulldogs jump to a 16-0 lead.

However, the next two quarters saw Warragul fight back strongly, holding the Bulldogs goalless and leveling the score at 16-16 heading into the final quarter.

Both teams exchanged rushed behinds before Duggan once again stepped up, scoring a crucial goal to put the Bulldogs ahead with just three minutes remaining.

The final minutes were intense, with the crowd hanging on every possession.

In the end, the Bulldogs' strength and composure saw them secure a 24-17 victory, earning them the championship.

Their season motto "you V you, lifetime memories, lifetime mates" was displayed proudly on their banner and became a fitting testament to their journey to the title.

Congratulations James Lewis for receiving the Best on Ground Medal.

Best players: Oliver Duggan, Noah Forrest Mabilia, Timothy Niven, Darcy Thompson, Finn O'Brien and Charles O'Garey.
