Yacht still high and dry
1 min read

Authorities are working with the owners of a yacht -which locals feared had been abandoned -after it blew ashore at Ventnor in early November.

The yacht, believed to be owned by a Melbourne couple, blew ashore on November 3 with the strong northerlies, at Anchorage Beach and has since not been moved.

Parks Victoria moorings and port services manager Stuart Wardrop confirmed they were working with the owners to have the boat removed.

"Abandoned boats impact the health and safety of our shorelines as they are a risk to the environment and public safety," Mr Wardrop said.

"Owners are liable for removal costs under the Port Management Act 1995."

Parks Victoria is the local port manager for Western Port, but a Bass Coast Shire Council spokesperson said they had contacted the Australian Marine Safety Authority to report the boat.
