Democrats in the Senate
2 min read

With a Federal Election looming, the Australian Democrats have endorsed their second Senate candidate in Victoria.

Central Victorian resident, Carly Noble has been endorsed by the party.

She is married with three children and lives and farms at Arnold where she breeds dual purpose cattle for local markets. She has qualifications in leadership, mental health, business, agriculture, teaching and workplace health and safety. She has previously worked in construction, viticulture and horticulture and is also an agribusiness consultant where she assists farmers build resilience in their operations.

Mrs Noble said she was excited to be running as an Australian Democrats Senate candidate because she shares similar values with the party.

"I stand firm on valuing evidence-based science and problem solving, as well as fairness, transparency and accountability. These are the values of the Australian Democrats, and I am standing for the Senate to make a difference and create positive change."

Coming from rural Victoria Mrs Noble understands and respects the many issues facing farmers. She is a prominent community leader and is passionate about promoting the mental health and wellbeing of our rural and regional farming communities. She said there are many challenges facing rural Australia, with the effects of climate change creating greater volatility in seasonal conditions.

"I am a longtime advocate for policies that minimise the effects of climate change on farmers and am a proud supporter of Farmers for Climate Action."

She aims to be a strong advocate for the domestic supply chain and the importance that it brings to farmers around Australia. Mrs Noble is a voluntary agri-food advocate with the City of Gastronomy in Bendigo.

"For the economy to remain strong we do need a plan that builds sustainability and resilience across the whole agri-food industry in Australia. I am a long-time circular economy student and continue to promote the importance that recycling offers within industries."

Mrs Noble will be contesting the election with Heath McKenzie, a business development manager for a major producer of vegetable seedlings, which supplies farmers around Australia.

Mr McKenzie is standing as a candidate to advocate for an economy that looks after its people as well as the environment.

The Australian Democrats was founded in 1977 by Don Chipp who was disillusioned with the state of Federal politics at that time. He wanted a party that supported the ideals of honesty, tolerance, and compassion in our political system.

His slogan "Keep the Bastards Honest" still rings true today and is the ideal Carly Noble and the Australian Democrats state they will uphold in the Senate.
