This gorgeous spiky critter was spotted on the Summerland Peninsula recently, along the South Coast Road.
“I was heading home after a budget meeting and I met this most adorable little iwata (echidna), who was so curious she even came over to say hi,” said Patrice Mahoney, artist and Aboriginal consultant.
“In our Anēwēn culture the iwata (echidna) is a great sign, a spiritual animal that is respected as if it was your mother.
“So when it’s crossing your path you must stop and say hello, let them know what you've been doing.”
