To support this exciting development, the College is inviting prospective families to a special Prep Information Morning on Tuesday, April 29.
This event will offer a wonderful opportunity to meet the dedicated staff and discover what makes Newhaven College such a unique and enriching place to learn.
Known for its small class sizes and nurturing environment, the College provides a supportive and engaging educational experience that often exceeds parents' expectations.
During the Information morning, families will learn about Newhaven's hands-on learning approach, creative play spaces, music programs, and outdoor adventures - all designed to inspire and support young learners.
To support a smooth and positive start to school life, Newhaven College is excited to launch its Prep Transition Program in Term 2, continuing throughout the year. This initiative is all about building strong, meaningful connections with our future students and their families. As part of the program, our dedicated Prep teachers will be visiting future students in their kindergarten settings, giving them a chance to connect in a familiar environment. Looking ahead to Term 3, our future Prep students will also enjoy weekly library sessions, offering a fun introduction to books and the school setting.
The library sessions provide an opportunity for future Preps and their families to meet and get to know Head of Junior School, Cath Huther and Principal, Tony Corr.
These learning experiences will help future Preps become familiar with their new surroundings and to build connections with their peers.
Equally important, the transition program will serve as a valuable opportunity for parents to connect with other families embarking on the Prep journey next year. In Term 4, the transition program will intensify as students join in some learning sessions in their future Prep classes.
While students are busy acclimatising, parents will participate in information sessions to ensure that the partnership starts strongly and consistently. These sessions will include resources and activities to help families prepare for school and develop strong foundations that align with the College's educational philosophy.
Mrs Huther is passionate about the importance of welcoming future Preps.
"Our Pre-Prep Transition Program is more than just an introduction to school - it's the beginning of an educational journey.
"We are thrilled to see our future Preps take these first steps with confidence and enthusiasm, knowing that they are supported by a strong community of peers, educators and families," she says.
"We look forward to witnessing the many milestones they will achieve as they transition, grow and become valued members of our Newhaven College community."
There are currently some vacancies for the Prep 2026 intake at the College. The special Prep Information Session will be tailored for 2026, 2027 and 2028 prospective enrolments.
