Newhaven College colour fun run
1 min read

After last year's highly successful Colour Run, Newhaven College's Parent and Friends Association (PFA) decided to set up an even bigger and better event for 2024.

The Colour Fun Run took place on the College oval on Friday August 2 and sunny and breezy conditions made for the perfect experience.

Students from Prep to Year 12 got into the spirit of the event, running through an obstacle course while parent and student volunteers ensured they exploded with colour.

Some of the students had a lot of fun with costumes, with Shaun the Sheep, a robot, polar bears, astronauts, storm troopers and unicorns parading the grounds. It proved to be an incredible mid-winter cobweb clearer, with hysterical laughter ringing across campus.

President of the PFA, Angel Chambers was thrilled with the enthusiasm shown by all who participated and is proud of the PFA fundraising efforts so far,

"The Crazy Colour Day Fun Run has helped fundraise towards the PFA Giving Fund which has been established to support and enhance the school and educational experience for students.

"The fund has supported several important initiatives this year including a donation to the MTB Club for a trailer, the Music Department for a performance stage and Shades of Pink, a breast cancer charity.

"However, the event was viewed as more than a fundraising event. It was seen as an opportunity for the entire school of over 900 students, from Prep to Year 12, and teachers, to create memories and participate in a fun school-wide event."

The College PFA focus is to raise money for specific projects and activities to benefit College students.

The PFA wants to extend thanks to everyone who helped support and make the Colour Run a successful event: Principal Mr Corr, Heads of Sub-Schools Ms Huther, Mr Arceo and Mr Torstonson, teachers, maintenance staff, volunteers, parents and those in the community who helped fundraise, Angel said.
