Macleod Secondary College Big Band
1 min read

Members of the Macleod Secondary College Big Band gave a wonderful impromptu performance last week, much enjoyed by passers by who happened to be in the right place at the right time on Thursday afternoon.

The students, who ranged in age from Year 7 to Year 12, were enjoying a three day tour on Phillip Island, after having most of their plans and presentations dashed in 2020 because of Covid.

“Last year was tough for them,” their music teacher said.

“Performance opportunities fell through, so it is great to be on able to go on tour this year.”

The Big Band and entourage were staying at the Big Wave Backpackers hostel in Newhaven, so what better place to set up a gig than on the Big Wave itself, with passing traffic enjoying the unusual sight and sounds.

The students gave performances at a number of local primary schools during their visit, as well as fitting in visits to local attractions including the Phillip Island Circuit Go Karts, Penguin Parade and A Maze N things.
