Get on board the model train show
1 min read

This weekend, the Phillip Island and District Railway Modellers are again hosting their annual model train show in Cowes.

The show will be held at the Cowes Senior Citizens Hall, in Lions Court in Cowes on Saturday January 20 and 21.

On Saturday the exhibition will be open to the public from 10am until 5pm, and on Sunday the hours are 10am to 4pm.

The show always attracts many visitors and caters for the diehard model railway enthusiast, the budding five-year-old who loves to watch the trains go around and everyone in between.

There will be thirteen model layouts to view ranging from a vintage 1950s trainset to full digital control models complete with authentic sound.

There will be models ranging in size from the smaller "N" scale, that fit in a cupboard, up to "O" scale, that you would need a large shed to accommodate.

This year the show features six new model layouts, not seen before at any show including a completely new model where the club invites the young enthusiast to drive the trains.

There is also a new exciting large, detailed layout depicting an early 20th century timber mill and township.

The organisers are also pleased to welcome back the very popular "Circus Train" display

"We are grateful for sponsorship from Bass Coast Shire and Westernport Water as well as the support from Branch Line Hobbies in Croydon and Steam Era Models," a spokesperson said.

"Come and enjoy an hour or two, rain, hail or shine in airconditioned comfort.

"Please talk to the exhibitors, we just love talking about model trains and there is a wealth of experience and expertise to call upon."
