1 min read

Newhaven College is an independent, ecumenical and co-educational school with over 900 students from Prep to Year 12. Students enjoy excellent facilities at the magnificent 82-acre coastal Phillip Island campus. The College’s Strategic Direction speaks to the relentless aspiration to positively impact the wellbeing and educational outcomes of the young people in the College’s care.

Learning

Newhaven College supports a wide range of academic subjects. The learning culture is inclusive, emphasising personal wellbeing, trust and enhanced collaborative opportunities, to create a meaningful learning experience that recognises individual needs and the changing nature of our world.

Visual and Performing Arts

With a new Performing Arts Wing, extensive creative art studios and highly skilled staff and tutors, Newhaven College is the place for the creative child. It offers an extensive program of individual or shared instrumental music lessons in strings, woodwind, brass, percussion, drum kit, piano, guitar, electric bass, and voice.

Principal Tony Corr is proud of the vibrant arts culture at Newhaven.

“The arts help to foster empathy, compassion and understanding by allowing us to explore different perspectives and experiences.”

Sporting opportunities

The College provides class sports lessons, House competitions, sports carnivals, swimming lessons, and inter-school competitions.

Sporting opportunities include a nationally successful Equestrian team, Surf Academy and Tennis Academy to complement the regular sporting pursuits, with hiking and kayaking trips for the senior students. All activities are supported with exceptional sports grounds, courts, a well-equipped gym and enthusiastic staff.

Pastoral Care and House Mentoring

The College House system creates a familial, secure and supportive environment where every student is known. By building authentic relationships, the College promotes innovation, encourages critical thinking and instils a strong sense of community.

Newhaven College offers General Excellence scholarships for applicants in Secondary School at any level in 2024 who can demonstrate outstanding abilities across a broad range of areas including academic, sporting, performing arts, leadership and community involvement.
