New facilities for Corinella Bowling Club
1 min read

Bass Coast Shire Council announced new toilet facilities, including DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) compliant access, have been completed at the Corinella Bowling Club.

The project, fully funded by Council at $428,000, is part of an initiative to renew community facilities across the shire to ensure they are inclusive and accessible to all. The council said these projects are vital for fostering social health and well-being for all residents.

The upgrade included the demolition of part of the existing building and extending the floor area to accommodate the new facilities.

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Clare Le Serve, CEO Greg Box and Council Officers involved in delivering this project of the new facilities officially handed over the project to club representatives Steve Bray and Barbara Oats, as well as a contingent of members who were excited to be able to enjoy their new space.

"This upgrade not only improves the facilities at the Corinella Bowling Club but also reflects our commitment to creating inclusive, welcoming environments for all members of our community," said Mayor Le Serve.

The Mayor said the addition of these new accessible facilities underscores Council's dedication to enhancing community health and well-being.

"Recreational activities, like lawn bowling, play a crucial role in fostering physical activity, social interaction, and mental health.

"Ensuring that community spaces are accessible to everyone means more residents can participate in these enriching activities, promoting a healthier, more connected community."

The Corinella Bowling Club welcomes new members of all ages, including juniors and seniors, and provides opportunities for both social and competitive bowls in a friendly and relaxed environment.

For those interested in getting involved, whether as a member or a visitor, the Corinella Bowling Club Inc is ready to welcome you and experience their community spirit and upgraded facilities.
