A single-day run from Melbourne to Cowes on March 27 will raise funds to fight cancer, inspired by the death of a San Remo resident last year.
Melbourne butcher Cam Moore is dedicating his running challenge to his family friend, San Remo's Les Blick, who passed away in November from cancer.
The 32-year-old has so far in March run just under 200km, which is the Cancer Council's March Charge challenge.
He will complete the challenge in a single-day-120km run from Chelsea Heights to Cowes on March 27, leaving home about 2.30am to be in San Remo by about midday.
Once Cam reaches San Remo, he will wear a bucket on his back, open for donations.
The run will end in a fundraising meal at Ocean Reach Brewery, where $5 from each $37.50 meal will be donated to the "Cammy March Charge".
Cam said he grew up holidaying at his family's caravan in Rhyll and Ventnor and chose to run to support the Cancer Council challenge.
"I've chosen this run and distance to help honor my friends and family close to me who have and still are battling cancer, more recently the Blick family, who lost dear Les.
"In doing this run I want to highlight the message to keep fighting and pushing.
Les Blick's son Jordan said his mother still lives in San Remo, moving there with Les about 10 years ago, and owning a holiday house in Ventnor for about 15 years before.
