Twenty-one years of servicing the community
2 min read

When Lauren and Trevor Pavert bought a small car mechanic business on the island nearly a quarter of a century ago, they never expected to still be servicing island vehicles 21 years later.

Seeing the old Werner Motors was for sale, Trevor and Lauren decided, with pre-school aged children, it would be the perfect time to move down.

With their business' 21st birthday celebrations falling on January 4, Lauren said she and her husband are still "loving" operating Bridgestone Phillip Island Tyre and Service Centre.

While the couple has been operating as a franchise of Bridgestone Australia for 10 years, they still see their service centre as a true small business at heart.

"Obviously we bought (the franchise) because Bridgestone's a trusted name and a really good franchise, but we'd been trading as a tyre and service centre for 10 years before that," Lauren said.

"It was just an add on to enhance what we could offer, and to give people a better price on a Bridgestone product - which is a quality product."

A number of special birthday offers are available to customers in celebration of 21 years of servicing the community.

A "really great" team

Lauren and Trevor said their staff often feels more like a family, and were all highly dedicated to providing the community with the best possible service.

"We've got a good name now, trusted by the locals, which we've worked really hard for over the last 21 years and which we're really proud of," said Lauren.

"We've got a great team working for us, and that's really important. You've got to have the right people around you to make sure that everything flows, and all the customers get looked after."

Dan Latham is second-in-charge at the Bridgestone Phillip Island Tyre and Service Centre, and steps in to run the show when Lauren or Trevor are not there.

"He takes over the reins and looks after the customers brilliantly," Lauren said.

Alex Thompson has been with Bridgestone Phillip Island on-and-off for over 15 years, and looks after the tyres, which according to Trevor he knows back to front.

"It's a really great place to work, great people. I wouldn't have been here for so long if it wasn't," Alex laughed.

Anthony Connors is the trusted senior mechanic at Bridgestone, aided by junior apprentice mechanics Connor and Chase - who is completing a school-based apprenticeship through Bass Coast College.

Melissa Waterton, who started at Bridgestone Phillip Island little over four months ago, assists with the front of house operations.

Trevor and Lauren said looking after the community which has supported them and their business for over two decades is incredibly important to them, not only as business owners but island residents as well.
