Phillip Island and San Remo businesses celebrated a successful night at the 2024 Business Awards.

Wildlife Coast Cruises, TerraLab, TIDAL Seafood Festival, Brinnie T Design, NRMA Phillip Island, Anchor Belle, Dead4eva Designs, Balance Health, Foodies on Phillip Island, Made.by Bronte, Hair by Karra, Cor Pilates, C&K Welding and Fabrication, and Bass Strait Direct were all on the podium at the Awards night at the RACV Resort in Inverloch on August 23.

The successful Ocean Sounds event, held on Churchill Island won the award for Event Excellence and the overall Business of the Year.

The judges commended the Ocean Sounds submission saying it stood out "with great detail and impressive statistics".

"The Hills Are Alive Group provided extensive insights into visitor profiling, demonstrated significant sustainability initiatives, and showcased a clear vision for the future. Despite having a small team, they successfully organised a large-scale event, and had a comprehensive understanding of customers and markets, and excellent supporting documentation."

After winning awards over several years, TerraLab and Wildlife Coast Cruises entered the Hall of Fame.

Awards to winners and runners-up in the six categories judged were presented, with the island and San Remo picking up 50 per cent of these.

In the People's Choice category, three quarters of the winners or runners-up were from Phillip Island and San Remo.

The presentation night was attended by 170 business owners, operators, and supporters.

Bass Coast Shire Council said the awards highlighted the diversity and talent in the region.

There was also a record number of votes (over 3000) cast in the People's Choice.

"We are incredibly proud of the exceptional talent and innovation showcased at the 2024 Bass Coast Business Awards," said Bass Coast Mayor Cr Clare Le Serve.

"Congratulations to all the winners for their outstanding achievements. These awards highlight not only the diversity of our local businesses but also the strong sense of community that supports them."

Council received 54 applications from businesses for the judged categories across a wide range of industries, including home-based businesses, construction, health, retail, tourism, hospitality, and professional services.
