After finishing the season in sixth position after the home and away season, Saturday morning saw the girls play in their elimination final against Dalyston who finished in third position on the ladder.
Marley was named captain for our first final in what was a result of her improvement throughout the year and team first mentality she brings every week.
The first quarter was a crazy start, and the girls settled their nerves, and it was really even with the experienced Dalyston just ahead at the break.
Ella was battling away in defence with one good arm, and the mid courters were finding space around the court.
The next two quarters were tough, with Dalyston defending our goalers well and protecting the area in the ring, making long range shots very tricky.
The last quarter the girls all pulled together for one last crack to keep the season alive, and although outscoring the opposition fell short by six goals.
Standouts for the game were Ivy through the centre and Marley in defence.
In saying that the coach couldn’t have been prouder of what this group of young ladies delivered on the day and re iterated that they should all be proud of themselves too.
After a great season and a short-lived finals campaign, the team and coach would like to thank all the players and parents for everything throughout the year.
Getting the girls to training, helping out on match day and always getting them to the games on cold wintry days at 7.30 in the morning.
The improvement from the start of the year, with only three out of the nine girls having played netball before is something the club should be excited about, and we look forward to seeing all these girls back again for next season.
Now we look forward to cheering on PIFNC’s Under 15s and 17s in their finals and hope they can go deep into September.
1, 2, 3 go Island!

Final Scores: Phillip Island: 7 to Dalyston: 15.
