Last Thursday, just before lockdown, all schools from South Coast and West Gippsland competed at the School Sport Victoria Primary Schools Division Cross Country event.

The event was held at Stoney Creek Racecourse in wet and muddy conditions.

The students put on some strong performances and didn't let the conditions deter them.

Thirty-five students from Cowes Primary School competed with some outstanding results and 12 of these students will now compete at the regional event to be held at Lardner Park in the near future.

In the 9/10 girls section Cowes Primary School took out the trifecta with Violet Robertson first, Kate McCausland second and Ella Solohub third.

Jacob Solohub also placed second in the 12/13 boy's section.
