1 min read

Senior Women

Playing in rain, hail and shine the Island's Senior Women were unlucky to come away with a 4-3 loss against Drouin.

With missing players, the team fought without backup and gave their all.

Goals: Yarlini, Tiki and Joss.

U14s

Second placed on the ladder Leongatha pressed hard against the Island's U14s from the get-go.

The Island's midfield and defence functioned as a brick wall, holding out the 'Gatha, attack after attack.

Keeper Oscar made great saves, Lilly, Harley, Jackson and Nash worked goal side and blocked their opponents relentlessly.

Zach read the play well and used his pace to sweep up loose balls on the last line of defence.

Additionally, midfielders Kaylan, Ariana and Amara worked hard to get back and defend.

Olly up front worked to keep the ball under control and laid off fantastic passes.

Kaylan's clever lateral dribbling and through balls in midfield created opportunities for the forwards.

In a defensive team effort, the Island held Leongatha off for 20 minutes before their defence faltered, allowing their opponents to take a total of six goals throughout the duration of the match.

Casey, Rhys, Ebony and Jackson, looked dangerous up the front but didn't receive opportunity against a strong Leongatha team.

Additionally, Ariana and Omara worked hard up and down the left and right wings.

Young Harley received the well-deserved coaches award for defending bravely and creating impact all game.

Scores: Leongatha 6 def Phillip Island 0.
