The Cowes Yacht Club is once again running a series of events to help introduce people to the joys of sailing.
Its Sail Training and Discover Sailing days are running in December and January, and the different courses cover ages from seven through to adults.
The courses are open to all members of the public.
On Monday December 30, join the Discover Sailing Day and experience sailing free of charge (weather permitting). The session runs from 10am - 1pm and is open to all.
A second session will be held on January 11.
Sail training classes run from early January, offering three different levels.
Tackers Program is aimed at beginner junior sailors aged seven to 12. It is a fun introductory, games-based program.
Tackers 1: January 6 - 10, 9am to 1pm. or January 13 - 17, 9am to 1pm.
Tackers 2: January 6 - 10, 1.30pm to 5.30pm.
Tackers 3: January 6 - 10, 1.30pm to 5.30pm.
The OutThere program is designed for teenagers (12 - 17 yrs) as an introduction to water-based fun including sailing and powerboating.
The course runs from January 6 - 10, 1.30pm to 5.30pm.
The Start Sailing and Better Sailing programs will also run in January.
The Start Sailing Program caters for both teens (12+) and adults, from beginners to advanced levels. The course includes off the beach sailing theory plus on the water sailing using Cowes Yacht Club Discover Sailing Program boats.
Better Sailing caters for those wanting to advance their sailing skills and follows on from Start Sailing courses.
Start Sailing 1&2: January 6 - 10, 9am to 1pm.
Better Sailing: January 13 - 17, 1.30pm to 5.30pm.
The She Sails Program caters for women and girl (12+) only courses run by female sailing instructors.
Sessions focus on getting on the water and enjoying the experience with other women. The course will be tailored to participants (cater for those with little to no experience and for those who have prior sailing experience) and have some social fun as well.
The course runs January 13 - 17, 9am to 1pm.
