Island B Grade prevails in windy clashes, books a grand final and prelim final berth’s

After an incredible team effort last weekend, the Island B Grade girls again showed their signature ability to work cohesively together delivering against the favored Dalyston Magpies.

With what was sure to be a tight affair in wind affected conditions, the Island shot out the gates jumping the Magpies early scoring off the back of strong defensive plays.

Both Maddy Taylor and Jess Gysberts looked to continue their strong form from last week controlling the mid court and leading from the front enabling the Island to hold a handy lead moving into the second quarter.

As the rain arrived through the middle part of the contest so did the best of the Magpies, throwing some punches of their own.

The Island only had to look as far as their game-changer in Isla Cousins for a response.

The response came through numerous interceptions and rebounds stifling the attacks of the rampaging Magpies whilst providing the Island with forward momentum.

The final quarter started and ended as arm wrestle with Dalyston throwing everything at the Island only to be separated by the sublime shooting abilities of Meika White and Aisha Hibbert.

The Island now shift their focus towards next week's preliminary final against Nar Nar Goon.

Phillip Island: 46 def Dalyston: 42.
