Phillip Island bowls

We finally had our Friday Happy Hour; it was great to have a social catch-up and return much need funds to the club.
Pennant practice commences this week too. Dates have been set with a Saturday draw confirmed, to commence in January; still awaiting Mid-week draw.
Tuesday bowls had 16 players, winners were Stuart Harvie and John Routley, runners up Judy Christie and Ray Pepper.
Thursday Social had 14 players.
Winners Brian Legg, Eric Wild and Murray McClimont, with +33. Runners up Alan Price, Laurie Goodman, Joan Farmer and Reg Excell with +27.
Saturday was 2-4-2 – winners were Hans Olierook and John Routley with +35, runners up Peter Forest and Reg Excell with +34.
The Phillip Island Primary schools including Our Lady of the Sea, are again participating in the bowls program instigated by John Matthews, Kevin and Dorothy Wagner.
They are assisted by members of club and teachers who give an insight to experience bowls to these young children.
They have been successful in representing their schools in the district and state and have reached finals in past two years.
Teams from the District have played at Wonthaggi and Morwell in the past, with the State Finals at Darebin.
Next Year Phillip Island Bowls Club will host the District Competition in March. This is a great event for our club.
It surely must be in recognition of the input that John, Kevin and Dorothy do to promote this sport in our schools.
