Big weekend for Island soccer despite the wet - U14
1 min read

It was a nail biter for the U14s against top placed Korumburra.

In the biggest test, the team were able to stand and deliver.

The Breakers didn’t get the three points but proved that they can compete with the best teams in the league.

With the score 1-0 in the opposition’s favour at half time the Breakers reset, ready to strike back.

Despite lots of high-speed running from Lochie through the game, another goal from Korumburra saw the team down by two but kept chasing, kept hassling and Jasper finally managed to get the ball past the keeper.

A penalty shot set up with another opportunity and with an excellent assist from Jarvis to Jasper the scores were level.

It was a tense last few minutes on the sidelines, but Hamish D-H continued a great defence in the nets and at the final whistle scores were tied 2-2.

According to coach Frank Liccardi “We came in with a game plan and we went out and ran it perfectly. There is still work to be done but I believe the best is yet to come from us!”

As promised this week’s training will be a parent versus players game with a bye coming up this week for the team.
