Beach patrols are back
1 min read

Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club (WBSLSC) is welcoming everyone back to the beach, announcing their new summer patrol schedule.

“With the summer holidays upon us, WBSLSC would like to remind everyone to stay safe around the water,” said Ryan Box, the club’s director of communications.

“Please make sure you swim between the flags and know your limits, and have a chat to one of our friendly Lifesavers or Lifeguards who will be able to give you more information on the conditions.”

Patrols started at Woolamai Beach and Smiths Beach on the weekend.

The timetable which will operate through to Christmas Day means both beaches will be patrolled from 10am – 6pm on weekdays.

On Saturdays, patrols on both beaches start at 10am, finishing at 5pm at Woolamai and 6pm at Smiths.

On Sundays, Woolamai patrols will finish at 4pm, while Smiths will be patrolled until 6pm.

From December 26 – January 26, Cowes Foreshore beach will also be patrolled, with all three beaches patrolled from 10am – 6pm, seven days a week.

From January 27 until February 19, the patrols will return to the pre-Christmas schedule, with patrols only at Smiths and Woolamai.

Then, through to Easter, patrols will only operate on weekends and public holidays at Smiths and Woolamai: Saturday 1pm to 5pm and Sunday 10am – 4pm on both beaches.

Any changes to the schedule will be shared on Facebook @WoolamaiBeachSLSC.

Ryan encouraged all beach goers to look at the signage displayed before going into the water.

“If you have any questions about our timetable or other general questions, please contact us on Facebook @WoolamaiBeachSLSC or Instagram @woolamaislsc

“We can’t wait to see you down on the beach this summer so come and say hi!”
