Mario Crisafulli has again claimed his title as the king of local tomato growers, harvesting around 100 kilos of tomatoes this year.
This is a regular occurrence for the passionate home gardener, who regularly reports a crop of this size.
This year his largest tomato – an Oxheart – weighed in at 820 grams.
Mario said the Oxheart has a thinner skin, lots of pips and a sweet flavour, and assured us his tomatoes taste better than any you will buy from a store.
If not shared with friends and family, or eaten fresh off the vine, Mario cooks up his harvest into a tomato sauce, to be enjoyed all year round.
