Share the magic of Christmas
1 min read

Christmas is the most magical time of the year, but for some, Christmas can be hard. Some locals in our community have really struggled this year and have been able to just keep their head above water.

Yes, things have re-opened, but many are catching up on the bills that never went away.
There are some in our community that are unable to afford presents for their children.

CWA Cowes is calling upon the community to help them and other community groups on the island and San Remo,  so no child goes without this Christmas.
They are conducting a drive to collect toys, books, puzzles and games.

New toys for children from newborns to teenagers will be passed on to St Vinnies Cowes to help with their Christmas appeal.

The CWA is also collecting Christmas fare food for Christmas hampers, which will be distributed via Phillip Island Community and Learning Centre (PICAL).
They will be collecting until December 17 but can take food items/goods right up till Christmas.

“If you are able to help, we will be grateful for extra tins or packets, a ball or a puzzle, one box of Lego or a Barbie,” said Branch President Felicity Newberry.
“Every little bit adds up with helping us and other Community Groups on Phillip Island and San Remo.
“Stress, worry, uncertainty, are only some of the things that some parents face when they are unable to purchase gifts for their children for Christmas,” Felicity said.
“Children love the surprises that they get on Christmas day. Can you help put a smile on someone’s dial this Christmas?
“Can you be a Christmas Elf and buy something for someone else?”

Donations can be dropped off at the CWA Cowes Branch shop to be passed on to the relevant services.

“From all of us at Country Women’s Association Cowes Branch - have a wonderful and safe Christmas.”
