Saltwater Creek clean up
1 min read

Last month, a hardy bunch of volunteers braved cold and foggy conditions for a working bee at Saltwater Creek.

The group targeted a massive infestation of Dolichos vine, to prevent it spreading further in the reserve behind Red Rocks Golf course.

After two hours, the team managed to clear the vines and expose the mass of dead trees and bower spinach they had smothered.

In other areas, massive vines were cut back from tea trees that were being choked by the vines.

Thistle rosettes and box thorns were also removed, along with an infestation of rat's tail grass along the path to the carpark.

With more work still to be done, organisers from the Phillip Island Conservation Society (PICS) are hoping more volunteers will join the next working bee on Sunday, July 28.
