The Rotary Club of Phillip Island and San Remo is offering an amazing opportunity for a young local leader.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a leadership program coordinated by Rotary Clubs around the globe.
Through Rotarians’ constant belief in the potential of youth, RYLA has since become an opportunity to help the next generation of leaders define themselves and expand their skills and is now a personal, professional development seminar program for young people aged between 18-30.
The Rotary Club of Phillip Island and San Remo is pleased to be able to offer two spots at the next RYLA, which will be held from January 17 – 22, at Rawson Village.
Participants are fully sponsored which covers all accommodation, meals, seminar sessions and bus transfer to the camp. and are only liable for personal items they wish to purchase or have for the camp.
This is a great opportunity for a local young employee and the club welcomes enquiries from local businesses and organisations who would like to nominate a young person in their employ.
The program is delivered at a six-day residential camp. It focuses on enhancing leadership, communication, motivation, teamwork and interpersonal skills as well as building self-awareness of mental health and well-being, knowledge of a sense of community and a sense of belonging. Participants will hear from inspiring guest speakers and participate in activities that will challenge them on many different levels.
RYLA all started as Gundoo Week in 1959-60 in Queensland. It was created as a festival highlighting local youth organised in honour of a royal visit by Princess Alexandra, who was a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II.

Prior to COVID-19 putting a halt to so many programs, the Rotary Club of Phillip Island and San Remo had offered and supported many different opportunities for students from both local primary and secondary schools, as well as RYLA.
