Meet and learn more about Phillip Island and Bass Coast producers at the inaugural Local Flavours Food & Drink Showcase hosted by Chef Shane Delia on Sunday, December 8.
The free event will be held at Berninneit in Cowes from 11am to 4pm and brings together the region's celebrated food and beverage artisans for a day of tastings, demonstrations, discussions and local music.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the makers, sample their products, and purchase artisanal goods to curate delicious Christmas hampers and gifts.
The showcase will celebrate the diversity of Victorian produce and the rich variety of local offerings, including handcrafted cheeses from Bassine Specialty Cheeses, organic oyster mushrooms from Wattle Bank Farm, and teas and spices made from native Australian ingredients by The Wild Food Farm.
Other producers include Tonemade, who specialise in organic bone broths, and Maccas Farm, known for their paddock-to-plate meats and vegetables.
Mystic Sand Berries will feature their fresh strawberries grown in Inverloch, while local bakers, including Invy Baker, Island Cookie Box, and The Twisted Baker, will showcase their selection of baked goods.
The region's emerging craft beverage industry will also be in the spotlight.
Mates Gin, Ocean Reach Brewing, Phillip Island Meadery, and Green Gully Brewing will offer tastings. Craft producers are joined by The Gurdies Winery and Silverwaters Vineyard offering award winning cool climate wines.
Shane Delia, from channel nine's Postcards and restauranteur of Maha and Bigge Smalls restaurants, will host discussions, demonstrations and tastings with local producers, Pickle My Chili, San Remo Fisherman's Co-Op, Bassine Cheese and Ocean Reach Brewing.
Adding to the atmosphere, local musicians Maddy May, and Olly and Scuzzi will provide a relaxed soundtrack to the day and free games will be provided on the Berninneit lawn.
The Phillip Island and Bass Coast community and visitors alike are encouraged to attend the event and shop local for Christmas gifts to support our local producers.
Entry to the event is free and tasting glasses will be available for purchase for $5, allowing visitors to sample locally produced beverages.
The Local Flavours Showcase is a must-visit for anyone who loves food, drink, and the stories behind them.
