NYE on the Hill gets the gong
1 min read

Gippsland's NYE on the Hill festival has won the Best Regional Festival at this year's Music Victoria Awards.

The awards were announced at a ceremony at Fed Square in Melbourne last Thursday.

In the industry voted award, NYE on the Hill beat out Beyond the Valley-Golden Plains, Loch Hart Music Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival and the Queenscliff Music Festival.

Event Director Rhett McLaren said it takes "a massive effort to put on festivals, particularly regional ones".

"Everyone in this category puts on great ones from commercial to community.

"Shoutouts to all the nominees, I know the hardships and what it takes to put them on.

"Emerging artists is what New Year's Eve is all about and we support Victorian ones and offer first festival opportunities to as many emerging artists as we can of all types."

In July NYE on the Hill announced the line up for its 11th festival, including Mallrat, The Dreggs and Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers.

For the past 10 years, the popular local festival has sold out and looks set to continue that trend, with more than 30 bands on the bill and a special performance by Millowl Dreaming.

The event takes place over New Year's Eve, Monday December 30 to Wednesday January 1, 2025. Three days/two nights of music, free camping, BYO drinks (yes you can bring your own drinks), cocktail bars, incredible views and sunsets, over 30 amazing bands, DJ's and artists, field games, awesome food, chill out areas, late night boogies, art installations, morning yoga and much more!

Buses will be running from Melbourne to The Farm and back again for the first time ever.
