The normal New Year’s Eve fireworks in Coronet Bay, Inverloch and Cowes will not be held this year.
Last month, Bass Coast CEO Ali Wastie said the decision to cancel the events was in step with COVID-safe requirements set by the State Government and necessary for the community’s ongoing safety.
“I know a lot of people, young and old, will be disappointed, but unfortunately there’s no way to keep attendance within the restricted gathering limits, which are currently in place for everyone’s safety,” Ms Wastie said.
In Cowes there will be traffic management in place in Thompson Avenue and Bass Avenue will be closed to traffic from 4pm on Thursday, December 31, as part of the New Year's Eve preparations.
The Esplanade between Thompson Avenue and Finlay Street will also be closed.
