Nature Parks Call for Community Members
1 min read

Phillip Island Nature Parks is seeking community members to join the Community and Environment Advisory Committee (CEAC), an advisory committee to the Board.

If you share an interest in the wildlife, environment, and biodiverse future on Phillip Island (Millowl), the Nature Parks is keen to hear from you.

Current CEAC members have completed a three-year term, and the Nature Parks would like to thank them for their ongoing commitment and contribution to conservation initiatives within our community.

Applications are now open for five community members to join the CEAC.

The committee meets four times a year at a venue on Phillip Island (Millowl) with each meeting running for around two hours. Meetings are chaired by member(s) of the Board, and you will also hear from the Nature Parks team and special guests. Participation by members provides the opportunity to hear about upcoming conservation activities and planning sessions to work together on community initiatives.

Catherine Basterfield, Chief Executive Officer at Phillip Island Nature Parks says the contribution of community members, groups and local organisations is highly valued by the Nature Parks Board.

"Over the recent term, this committee has played a crucial role in shaping our future strategic planning and collaborated on initiatives to support threatened flora and fauna on Phillip Island (Millowl). We recently enjoyed a 'behind the scenes' tour at our aviaries to hear about how the Nature Parks is supporting the recovery of bush stone-curlews," said Ms Basterfield.

Phillip Island Nature Parks offers a diverse range of ecotourism experiences including the Penguin Parade, Nobbies Centre, Churchill Island and Koala Conservation Reserve. The Nature Parks also manages over 1980 hectares of Crown land, which includes a variety of coastal reserves, wetlands, and woodlands.

If you would like to contribute as a community member, please email community@penguins.org.au for an application form.

Applications close Friday July 12 with the next committee meeting scheduled for Wednesday August 7 at 4pm on Phillip Island.
