Mussel Rocks West stairs to be upgraded
1 min read

Bass Coast Shire Council has advised work will start on Monday October 21 (subject to weather) on a project to upgrade the stairs at Mussel Rocks West beach.

“These works have been scheduled to start after the busy MotoGP weekend and be ready in plenty of time for the sun and beach season,” said a council spokesperson.

Council said the work includes a new handrail and part of the stairs will be removed and replaced.

“The stairs are well used and for the safety of residents and visitors are in need of an upgrade.”

For safety reasons, the stairs and immediate surrounding areas will be fenced off for the duration of the work. The project is expected to take between one and two weeks.

An alternate beach access point is Cowes Yacht Club Beach Access Point.

“This project and all of our Capital Works Projects for the 2024/25 financial year can be viewed on Engage Bass Coast – engage.basscoast.vic.gov.au,” said the spokesperson.

“As with all construction projects, work is always subject to weather. While our team do our best to mitigate these, potential supply of material issues and contractor availability can also impact delivery times. Thank you for your patience.

“Any schedule updates will be available on Engage Bass Coast.
