Kids get creative to protect water

In celebration of National Water Week (October 21-27), Westernport Water have announced the winners of this year's poster competition.

This year's theme "Water for All, Inspiring Action" is about inspiring changes to help our water resources and our planet. We want to do things now that will make a big difference later, so we need to work together to make sure our water stays clean and plentiful for everyone, now and in the future.

The annual poster competition for local primary school and kindergarten students showcases their creativity and passion for protecting water resources through art. Students embraced the theme creating some amazing art, with almost 150 students entering this year's competition.

"We appreciate the schools and students taking part in this competition each year, we love seeing the posters. The level of creativity and understanding of the importance of water displayed in their artwork is inspiring," said Westernport Water's Managing Director, Dona Tantirimudalige.

"Congratulations to all the finalists and to Powlett River Primary School which was the lucky winner of Westernport Water's $1000 school participation prize that will support their efforts in promoting water education."

The top three winners from each age group received prizes at their school assembly over the past two weeks, taking home gift vouchers from Turn the Page bookshop in Cowes and a Westernport

Water prize pack. Every entrant also received a certificate for participating.

Winning posters from each age group were also entered into the state level competition against 12 other regional winners. Excitingly, two posters from local students were awarded first place in their

categories. See below for a full list of winners.
