Get ready for council elections
1 min read

If you're concerned about the direction of Bass Coast Shire Council, why not come and meet the potential future councillors?

Island Voice is holding a Meet the Candidates night on Tuesday, September 17 at the Phillip Island RSL, starting at 5pm.

Everyone is welcome.

The meeting will include a chance for candidates to state their platform and for ratepayers to meet them face to face and ask questions.

AGM

The following week Island Voice is holding its AGM, September 25 at 5pm, at the Phillip Island RSL - Anzac Room.

A brief half hour meeting will be followed by a session titled: Who or What makes a good community-focused councillor?

Guest speakers are Dean Hurlston, Council Watch and Heather Wellington, a councillor for 16 years from Surf Coast Shire.

The session aims to help voters decide who is the best candidate to represent them in the upcoming council election.

The 2024 Victorian local council elections will be a postal vote, with ballot packs mailed out from October 7. Election details at: www.vec.vic.gov.au/voting/2024-local-council-elections/bass-coast-shire-council
