French Island will be featured next Monday, August 8, at 8pm on ABC TV’s Back Roads program.

The show - renowned for travelling Australia to interview quirky and colourful townsfolk – will include interviews with island residents including the barge operator, general store owner, former tour owner Lois Aires, as well as manager of the French Island Vineyard Matt Spark.

Back Roads’ guest presenter Lisa Millar (pictured) visited the island last December and explored how the community runs with no council and no council services. 

“That means no sealed roads, no electricity or water supply, no rubbish collection and all those day-to-day services we take for granted,” according to Lisa.
