Hi, I'm Terence, your Greens candidate for Monash. I'm a semi-retired teacher from Kardella South who is ready to inspire change within our local community. The beautiful region that we call home is under threat from climate inaction by the major political parties. I became aware of the devastating effects as an avid gardener and recognise that to affect real change, I needed to get involved.
Australia is one of the largest fossil fuel exporters in the world, and we receive an embarrassingly small amount of tax or royalties for our resources. Labor has opened over 30 new coal and gas projects in this term of Parliament, and Dutton will only make things worse. There is no gas shortage, we export 80 per cent of it!
The Greens are aware that the climate and environmental crisis isn't the only thing that matters to Australians. In a wealthy country like ours, we should have world-class public health, education, and affordable housing. I joined the movement for a fairer future so my children and grandchildren can live in a better world.
If we tax the one in three big corporations who currently pay no tax in this country, and we implement a wealth tax on Australia's 150 billionaires, we can get dental into Medicare, make education free again and start building public and social housing like we used to in this country!
Why vote Green and not teal? Because we have strength in numbers. An independent is just one vote in the House of Representatives. A Greens MP has power in the House plus colleagues in the Senate, where we hold the balance of power.
If you want to keep Dutton out, and want to push Labor to act on what really matters, vote Green in Monash and The Senate!
