As I travel around our electorate, the constant theme I hear is "I'm working harder than ever but I'm going backwards" followed by "I'm sick of the government thinking it knows best for me."
Whether it's Labor or Liberal, an ever-increasing number of people are feeling let down and have lost trust in the major parties.
This election, my priorities are focused on local issues that lie close to the hearts of people in Monash.
I've been working alongside locals who have fought tooth and nail over the years to urge the federal and state governments to act on serious erosion at Phillip Island. The Victorian Government's recent commitment to address the erosion at Silverleaves is a testament to the strength of the Phillip Island community, my advocacy as an independent and my strong relationships across all sides and politics.
I'm also very proud to have secured $5.25 million for the intersection upgrade at Phillip Island Road and Woolamai Beach Road, $5 million for the Berninneit Cultural Centre, and $8 million to construct the new Cowes Foreshore Precinct.
While these projects are well worth celebrating, I also know that people are doing it tough. Cost of living pressures and an overwhelm of government burden and inefficiency is really hurting our families, farmers and small business.
As I've done for the past two decades - I'm here to give a voice to the fed up and disillusioned and to hold government to account, especially when they're spending hard-earned taxpayer dollars.
As the member for Monash, I will continue to support policies that:
- Provide genuine solutions to address the cost of living and housing crises
- Put families, fuel and food security first
- Cut the red, green and brown tape that stifles our farmers and small businesses
- Improve the health and wellbeing of Australians, and
- Protect our freedoms from government overreach.
I am the only candidate in this election who is funding my own grassroots campaign - that is, I am not accepting any donations. I can't be bought, and neither can our electorate.
As an experienced independent, not beholden to any party, group or individual, I can achieve more for the people of Monash.
