I'm running as an independent in this election because our community deserves better.
Phillip Island is my home, and I feel blessed to be part of this amazing community. Our community is strong, but we're being let down by the major parties.
As a local business owner, lawyer, and working mum, I've seen firsthand the needs in our community. Locals struggling with skyrocketing costs of living, housing at a crisis point, and we're missing out on crucial infrastructure investment.
It's time for a fresh approach, from someone who really understands the challenges faced by our community.
I'll fight to break up the supermarket duopoly that's increasing grocery costs. I'll push for access to affordable solar and battery power for every home (including rentals), school and business to bring down electricity bills and protect against power outages. I'll work to increase affordable housing, and ensure we get our fair share of federal funding.
Funding for the new Phillip Island Aquatic Centre and Recreation Reserve is a key priority. Our growing community needs a pool for young people to learn how to swim, to participate in sport and build community connection.
Fixing neglected roads is another key focus, to keep residents safe and support our tourism industry.
I'll advocate for significant investment and a science-based plan to combat coastal erosion.
I'll also push to expand in-person TAFE courses at Wonthaggi and for improved public transport so young people can better access further education.
I'm not aligned with any party. I'm not bound to toe a party line - I'll always put the interests of our community first. I won't sell my vote to either party - I'll consider each piece of legislation on its merits and vote according to how it aligns with community needs and values.
It's likely this election will result in a hung parliament. Despite fearmongering by the major parties, this will put an independent on the crossbench in a powerful position to get real results for our community.
As your MP I'll communicate regularly with the community, and seek community input on decisions. I won't be a politician you don't see again until two months before the next election. I'll host regular town hall meetings and pop-up offices throughout the electorate to listen to community needs and address issues as they come up.
By voting for me, you are voting to have a say in the future of our community.
