Early win for Wonthaggi Power

The Wonthaggi Power Football Club has received a State Government grant to redevelop the oval's playing surface at the Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve.

Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale announced that Wonthaggi FNC was among seven facilities across Victoria to share in more than $1.4 million from the latest round of the Country Football and Netball Program.

The grant for $250,000 goes towards a total project investment of $718,979 investment to redevelop the oval playing surface including site preparation, drainage, irrigation, a 130,000 litre water tank and new Santa Ana couch turf, funded by the club and Bass Coast Shire Council.

"This project is a wonderful partnership and this funding to uplift the grounds will help the club cater for the growing numbers of people keen to get involved in grassroots sport, get active and play the sport they love," said Ms Crugnale.

The 2025-26 Country Football Netball Program is now open with rural, regional and outer metropolitan councils eligible to apply for grants of up to $250,000 towards sports infrastructure developments including court and lighting upgrades, change room overhauls, new pavilions and more, to benefit local clubs and communities.

Applications close on July 7.
