Health Hub race day
Come and enjoy country racing at its finest at Woolamai this Saturday, and support the Phillip Island Health Hub Woolamai Race Day.
The Woolamai Race Course, set in a picturesque country setting at the foot of the Bass hills with tranquil views over the surrounding farmland, is just a 30 minute drive from Cowes.
Or catch the special race day buses from Cowes and San Remo, run by South Coast bus lines.
On course facilities are outstanding.
There’s shaded areas under lovely old elm trees, with picnic tables available or you can bring a rug and foldout chairs and sit on the lawn area.
A great day of racing is always assured, with full bookmaker and TAB facilities on course for those who like a flutter.
The kids are well catered for with children’s entertainment.
And two bars and kiosks run by local sporting clubs provide a wide variety of great food and refreshments at very reasonable prices.
The day presents a great opportunity for the Phillip Island Health Hub Auxiliary to raise funds for both the Hub and the new community hospital, and our community is urged to come along and assist with this important cause. Facilities such as chemotherapy and renal dialysis will be available, when the new hospital opens.
This week, Jan Child CEO of BCH, has advised that planning for the new hospital is progressing well.
An early works program being undertaken by TS Constructions over the last few weeks has prepared the site for construction with site benching undertaken to ensure the Health Hub and adjoining new hospital are at the same street level.
Bass Coast Health has advised the tender process for the main works is on track and it’s anticipated the main works contractor will be appointed in the coming weeks.
Fundraising efforts will be ongoing by BCH and the Phillip Island Hub Auxiliary to ensure that when the building is ready to open mid to late 2024, the community will have access to state-of-the-art equipment, and therapeutic gardens.
