Cr Leticia Laing successfully moved a motion at the August meeting calling for a moratorium on sandmining in the Western Port Woodlands, saying that given Bass Coast had been declared a Distinctive Area and Landscape by the Victorian government sand mining was “not an appropriate land use”.
