Career milestone for Lyndal
1 min read

Lyndal McKenzie, partner at Cardell Accountants in Wonthaggi, was recently recognised as a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) at a presentation ceremony at Crown held by Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand (CAANZ).

After a 30-year professional career, Lyndal was nominated as an FCA for using her professional accounting skills for community service.

Since becoming a partner of Cardell Accountants in 2013, Lyndal has made a significant contribution to the community by undertaking financial audit services for local charities and other not-for-profit organisations on a pro bono basis or for reduced fees.

More recently Lyndal has acted as Treasurer for the Wonthaggi Theatrical Group, taking over during the height of the Covid pandemic. Lyndal assisted the committee to navigate this challenging period where live performances were unable to be held or were severely restricted.

Lyndal was raised on a farm at Glen Forbes and attended Wonthaggi High School.

After leaving the area to study at Monash University, Lyndal then started her accounting career as a graduate with Deloitte. Lyndal trained as an auditor; however, after completing further study to become a Chartered Accountant, she left Deloitte to undertake roles in financial management for various organisations.

After the birth of their first child, Lyndal and her husband Paul decided to move home to the Bass Coast area.

Initially Lyndal worked as the Financial Controller for Phillip Island Nature Parks for two and a half years. After the birth of her second child Lyndal joined Cardell Accountants. Moving back into the audit field after 10 years, Lyndal re-trained as an auditor and attained qualification as a Registered Company Auditor.

During her acceptance speech, Lyndal reflected that "an important aspect of living and working in a regional area is the sense of community"

"I really value being able to give back to the community where I grew up by using my professional skills and it is so rewarding."

Lyndal concluded her speech by thanking her family, daughters Kyla and Camryn, and husband Paul for their ongoing support.
