Cambodia trivia night raises $25,000
1 min read

Stephen Davie, who heads the Growing Cambodia committee on Phillip Island, has thanked everyone who supported the Growing Cambodia Trivia night on the weekend.

Over $25,000 was raised which will go to support a school first established by Stephen and his committee, to provide educational opportunities for children in Cambodia.

The winning team was aptly named First Place thanks largely to the performance of Tori Cleeland who won extra points for her team with her "Raygun" imitation in the final.

"The Phillip Island community has done it again, with some help from supporters travelling down from Melbourne," said a delighted Stephen on Monday.

"The incredible generosity by our supporters resulted in Growing Cambodia raising $25,085 at the annual fundraiser held at Berninneit on Saturday night.

"With Warren Davie and Ash Read hosting trivia and games, it was a very relaxed, comfortable and fun evening for everyone at the new facility, with over 200 supporters dancing and listening to the sounds of the fabulous Laing Brothers, in between trivia questions and games.

"Thank you to everyone for coming along. Your support helps over 800 students in four rural Cambodian villages be taught English by 15 local teachers.

"Seventeen students undertaking a variety of courses are also sponsored at various universities in Cambodia. By offering these educational programs, students undertaking them then have the opportunities to earn higher incomes and experience a better and more sustainable quality of life."

Donations can still be made direct to Growing Cambodia's bank account: 633 000 150148583, or make a donation at www.growingcambodia.org.au/donate/
