Surrounded by friends, family and a sea of cakes and birthday treats, Emmit celebrated his 12th birthday in style.

Denni Slorach from San Remo Print It Fast provided this special birthday banner for the party.

Jessica Trigg did an amazing job painting faces for the kids, as part of the birthday celebrations.

There is no such thing as too much cake! Emmit celebrates his 12th birthday in style.
The Phillip Island and San Remo community came together recently to create an unforgettable birthday for a young boy.
Emmit, who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) had one wish for his 12th birthday – to have a fantastic party.
In January, his mum Jane put a call out through the local Facebook mum’s group for help.
“My son is turning 12 in about 6 weeks. He is ASD and to be honest doesn't have a whole lot of friends.
“Last year he wanted a birthday party and not one person showed up, and I mean not one. None of the friends he does have, none of my girlfriends with or without kids, and none of our family.
“This year for his birthday he hasn't asked for gifts, all he asked for was that people come and help celebrate his birthday with him. He wants people to "come and enjoy food and drinks and cake and to sing happy birthday" and overall to just have fun,” Jane posted.
She asked if anyone would be about to help make the birthday one Emmit would never forget.
“He just wants to feel special on his special day. He doesn't understand why people don't show up and I honestly don't know how to answer that for him.
“If you would like to come please let me know.
“Thank you to anyone that can spare a few hours for my beautiful son, we really appreciate it.”
The response from the community was incredible.
On the weekend, over 100 people were at the Lions Park in San Remo to help Emmit celebrate.
The birthday boy arrived in style, chauffeured to the event in a red Karmann Ghia.
As well as parents and children arriving to enjoy a spectacular party, businesses and generous locals provided all the important ingredients for the day.
Woolworths in Cowes donated food and drink, while local Paul McAskill wielded the tongs behind the barbeque.
Jessica Trigg added colour and joy to the day with her incredible face painting skills, while Denni Slorach from Print It Fast in San Remo provided a banner celebrating Emmit’s special day.
The children were thrilled and fascinated by Island Pythons, who brought their reptiles along to the party.
For local resident Diane McAskill, the party was a heart-warming show of community support.
“Jane’s message is simple – inclusion is so important for kids with needs,” Diane said.
“As a teacher for more than 40 years – I know many Emmits. Inclusion is everything.”
Diane said people arrived throughout the day to wish Emmit a happy birthday.
“It was a stunning response and overwhelming for the family who put themselves out there for their son,” Diane said
“It was indeed a fabulous day and Emmit’s 12th birthday wish was fulfilled. A huge shout out for the community support.”
