Alex Dawson is on a mission to raise $10,000 by mid July for Myeloma Australia, and is requesting community support.
The organisation relies on fundraising and donations to provide their services.
Myeloma is an incurable rare blood cancer and Alex has been part of the Myeloma Australia team for 13 years.
She sees first hand the support and hope that the organisation provides to the 18,000 sufferers at any given time in the Australian community.
The not-for-profit organisation supports, educates, informs, empowers and brings hope to people who are living with myeloma, and their loved ones.
It receives no government funding, and could do so much more for sufferers if further resources were available.
So, determined to find a way to raise funds for the organisation, Alex recently applied to Charity TV Global, the creators of the international ‘Adventure All Stars’ television series, to become a cast member.
Charity TV Global is a company that rewards people for their fundraising efforts by having them star in a travel TV series; and uses entertainment as a vehicle to steer global audiences into ‘giving back’.
Its filming and fundraising projects benefit charities across the world, and their latest alliance is with Myeloma Australia.
Pre-filming, all cast members are required to raise funds on behalf of Myeloma Australia, and net proceeds from the episode Alex will appear in will be gifted to Myeloma Australia
The series will involve Alex and fellow cast members embarking on a six day journey to a secret destination, which they will only find out about on day one.
And as required, she must raise a minimum of $10,000 for Myeloma Australia, before it begins in mid July, through both individual donations and selling sponsorship packages. (Packages range from $1,000 to $5,000)
Business are rewarded for their sponsorship of the travel program with brand exposure in the lead up and throughout the series which will be broadcast on Channel 7 and across 24 countries in 2022.
Their logos will also feature on official clothing worn by the cast during filming, and their businesses will be promoted via Charity TV's social media posts, media releases and in other ways.
Alex is seeking donations and sponsorship from anyone who would like to support her fundraising effort for Myeloma Australia.
She has strong connections with Phillip Island, having holidayed here with her family for 48 years
Her grandparents John and Marjorie Ricketts emigrated from the UK to Phillip Island in 1990 ; and her parents, John and Jennifer Dawson, have lived permanently at Newhaven since 2001.
Alex also owned a house at Cape Woolamai for a period. She describes Churchill Island as her favourite place here, along with the Nobbies in the middle of winter when no one is around.
