Twelve months ago, the Phillip Island RSL Committee approved and financially supported the initiative of Treasurer Michael Crump to create our own Catafalque/Honour Guard.
Michael has spent many hours recruiting and rigorously training his dedicated team, ready for the Dawn Service this year.
"To the best of our knowledge, Phillip Island RSL is the only RSL in Victoria with its own Catafalque/Honour Guard," a committee spokesperson said.
"We are indeed appreciative of their commitment. They have been welcomed by The Great War Association as members.
"This recognition allows us under their permit to carry out our commitments on ANZAC Day.
"We are positive the Phillip Island community will enjoy this wonderful addition to our ANZAC Dawn Service."
The Phillip Island RSL is hosting two ANZAC Day services: the 6am Dawn Service, followed by Gunfire Breakfast, and the 11am Service at the Cenotaph, including a march along Thompson Avenue.
The community is invited to attend.
