The Channel Challenge is very close to the heart of the San Remo Hotel and the San Remo community as a whole. The town’s biggest annual event was instigated 38 years ago by current owner Peter Williams’ father Lyle in conjunction with the Woolamai Life Savers over a few beers at the pub.

Peter (often referred to as Shirta), his wife Colleen and the entire pub crew are looking forward to another big, fun-filled day, this year utilising the new bridge lawn alfresco area.

With the early race start, the hotel will open from 9am for those looking for a coffee to kick off the day. There will be acoustic entertainment all afternoon with the Southern Brothers followed by Dan Lunn.

Competitors and spectators will be able to enjoy delicious food all day from the award-winning bistro.

San Remo Hotel was awarded Best Regional Bistro in all Victoria by the Australian Hotel’s Association in 2022. If you haven’t tried it, you don’t know what you’re missing!
