The Arts Society Phillip Island Region (ASPIR) will hold their Annual Easter Exhibition at Berninneit, the Cowes Cultural Centre.
The membership has grown considerably since ASPIR found a home at the Creative Arts Station. This Exhibition will be the first time for many to exhibit.
This much anticipated event will showcase the varied works of ASPIR members across all ages and is open daily from Friday April 18 until Tuesday April 22.
The Judge is Sue Jarvis, artist, teacher, photographer, and creator of the rare botanic garden at Blackwood Lane in Gembrook.
On Thursday evening, from 7pm, Sue will be announcing the award winners. All are invited to join in the Opening and Award celebrations at Berninneit.
The exhibition has many interesting categories.
The Best in Show, the major Award of $1000, is sponsored this year by ASPIR artists and members.
The Sustainable Environment Award is provided by Westernport Water through their Community Support Program. This asks our artists to illustrate, to challenge, and to engage the viewer with the environmental issues that confront our community. The Island Sports Clinic is giving the Highly Commended Award in this Category.
Best Body of Work Award gives the winner a week's solo exhibition at Clay & Co. Studio. This is an exciting initiative which will greatly assist the artist on their creative journey. Local Artist, Di Spencer, is contributing funds to help the winner prepare for the exhibition.
The Painting Award, in any medium, is again sponsored by the Phillip Island RSL. The Highly Commended Award has been donated in memory of artist Rita Hatch.
The Textile and/or Wearable Art Category gives an opportunity for the ASPIR Textile Artists to share their extraordinary creations with a wider audience. This award is co-sponsored by Phillip Island Helicopters and Turn the Page Bookshop. The Highly Commended Award is appropriately provided by Ladasha Jewellery of Cowes.
The Other Medium Award gives the Judge a chance to select a unique piece of art that does not fit into the general categories. Chemmart Cowes has supported this award over many years. Ear Mate is providing the Highly Commended Award.
We at ASPIR commend all these sponsors to you as their support makes all the difference and ensures a successful event.
Come and see this exciting exhibition, make your own selection, and vote in the People's Choice Award. The artist who has submitted the most popular work receives a $250 voucher for art materials from Senior Art Supplies.
As all works are for sale, it is a great place to acquire a wonderful piece to take home and enjoy.
