Oscar back in the Monologue games

Local actor and Newhaven College Grade 6 student Oscar Tuchtan has been selected for inclusion in the World Monologue Games, an international event featuring the best performers from 45 countries.

Years of disruption to the arts and entertainment industries hasn’t stopped actor Oscar Tuchtan. After reaching the Global Finals in 2021, the Phillip Island local is competing again this year in the World Monologue Games, a worldwide event often referred to as the Olympics for Actors.

When Oscar discovered he had been selected for the event’s Regional Finals again this year, he was thrilled.

“I’m super excited to be competing in World Monologue Games again this year. This has me representing Australia alongside scores of incredible performers from around the world. I can’t wait for my performance.”

World Monologue Games was set up in 2020 year by Australian producer Pete Malicki, who refused to let global lockdowns deprive his fellow creatives of opportunities to perform.

“Our third season is shaping up to knock the previous two out of the park,” Malicki said.

“Many judges commented that the standard of submissions was much higher than in the past. I’m looking forward to seeing what the best actors from scores of countries can bring to the table with this year’s Games.”

Oscar has been selected with a monologue about an embarrassing incident that could happen to any middle school kid.

“This is such a great piece to perform,” he said.

“It has the typical ups and downs that feature in any kid's school day, and a surprise twist at the end.”

Oscar’s Regional Final will be livestreamed on Friday October 21 at 8pm, featuring actors representing Australasia, Canada, and the UK.

He will be competing for a cash prize and a position on the podium during the prestigious Global Finals held late November.
