Offshore Theatre is seeking an actor of non-Caucasian appearance for a role in their forthcoming production of "Australians All ..." by Jonathon Biggins.
The role calls for a young man named Chester, although the character could also be played by a woman with some minor changes to the script.
Chester describes himself as an ABV – Australian Born Vietnamese – but we will consider actors of other non-Caucasian migrant background. Chester has recently moved into Coriole Shire, a beach side town with a predominantly Caucasian population and is a teacher at the local primary school.
His extra-curricular duty is to join the Australian Day organising committee where he needs to navigate his way through working with this complicated group of residents.
This play is an hysterical, poignant and often challenging look at the vastly changing landscape of Australia, especially in small towns.
The actor will need or be able to produce an Australian accent as Chester describes himself as Australian born. Rehearsals will begin in mid-January and run Sunday, Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm.
